Abstract: | The present paper is dedicated to the efforts of Bata Company in the sphere of transport. Bata Company and its administriation's board made efforts toward reduction of both production and sales costs, which means lower transport (logistic) costs. The first possibility was to establish its own transport fleet (cars, inland and sea ships, aircrafts). The second possibility consisted in improvement of traffic infrastructure (railways, motorways, roads, Danube-Oder water way). During interwar period Bata Company managed to make use of profitable traffic and tariff relations on the World and European traffic market and it improved local traffic connection between Otrokovice and Zlin. It has begun the construction of Vizovice-Horní Lidec railway and at the end of 1930's it was opened Otrokovicky (Batuv) channel. A trade air fleet was established and it was made an attempt of establishment of own marine fleet and it were used more cargo trucks. Although the company costs were not reduced (or only a little bit) we have to pay respect Bata's Company and its managers for laying stress on the meaning of the transport communications. |
